Production Role: Cinematographer
a) Job Title and Description
Cinematographers, also known as the director of photography (DOP), work along side directors when creating films, tv shows, music videos and advertisements to give them a creative aesthetic style. The visual impact that is on screen is created from the decisions the cinematographer make. They are involved throughout the entire production phase, making big decisions to get the image they want an work with he director to make their vision come to life.
b) Responsibilities
Cinematographers are responsible for managing lighting and camera crews, using them in different ways to create artistic, striking images on screen. They are also responsible for making decisions about aspect radio, digital effects, image contrast and frame rates. Cinematographers get involved in pre-production as well as proud lion so they also are responsible for dissect the screenplay, conduct extra research into different styles and motifs which relate to the subject matter of the script, and discuss creative ideas with the director.
Production Role: Director
a) Job Title and Description
Directors have one of the most important roles during production, directing actors refining and inserting original ideas into the film. They work closely with writers and producers to do this. Directors need a clear vision of the ideas and project and what materials are needed to reach the final product. Directors get a lot of information and tasks at one time and having a lot of schedules to reach.
b) Responsibilities
Directors are responsible for preparing and scheduling shoots with the production team, maximise budget effectively and do it all on time. Directors are responsible for both technical and creative aspects as well as understanding the significance of each scene and understand what is happening and, suggesting ways in which he sees can be shot and placed to create greater dramatic tension. They are responsible for coaching the actors and getting the best performance out of the actors.
Production Role: Set Designer
a) Job Title and Description
A set designer is in charge of designing and creating the sets that appear in films, on television and even the theatre by bringing an idea together design it and make it.. They work with directors, producers, costume designers and location managers to get the set that they are all visioning. This role starts in planning stages right through to when the filming starts.
b) Responsibilities
They are responsible for producing plans, drawings and models of the set and finally make it a reality. The set also needs to match your needs to a variety of other people’s such as make up artists, costume designers and maybe the location manager if the set is being created in a natural location. They must be in contact with all other departments to make sure there is enough room for cameras and lighting and also with the director to ensure that the set reflects the style of the film.
