Synopsis

The set is based on a ship that was long ago attacked and has been abandoned for years. A group of astronauts find the ship floating in the depths of space and they decide to explore it. The story includes flashbacks to show the audience what happened. One of them look at an oxygen tank which must have been left when the attack happened. In the flashback, one of the crew members tried to grab the oxygen tank whilst being dragged away by an alien... but failed. In the current time, the astronauts see a photo of the old crew fallen from the wall. Each time one of astronauts looks at or sees a part of the ship, there is a flashback to show the audience the events that happened.

e) Risk Assessment

f) Legal and Ethical Issues

There are important legal requirements when building sets in the film and TV industry. Individuals and companies must understand these laws to provide a safe working environment.

1. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

HSE (Health Safety Executives) are responsible for making sure that people working in Great Britain are safe and have human rights as well as boosting productivity, support the economy and contribute to make society fairer. The HSE is an independent regulator that has been working for 40 years keeping millions of people safe from fatal injuries. The 2012 Olympics is an example of an event that the HSE helped control to keep deaths to a zero. HSE is a team with employers, unions, trade companies and academic workers, e.t.c. HSE concentrate on the most serious risks such as on constructions sites and if anything was to go wrong, they would investigate and inspect the situation to find answers for victims and learn new solutions for other risks.

2. COSSH is the law that is the requirement for employees to control substances that are dangerous to health. You can prevent or reduce risk of exposure to hazardous substances by:

  • Finding out what the health hazards are

  • Risk Assessment

  • Providing control measures to reduce harm to health and make sure the control measures are in working order constantly

  • Providing information and knowledge to workers

  • Planning for emergencies

Most businesses use substances or products that are mixture of substances. Some processes can cause harm to employees, contractors or other people.

Personal Protective Equipment - Employers are responsible for providing, replacing and paying for personal protective equipment. PPE should be used when all the methods are inaccessible. PPE only protects the wearer. Types of PPE are:

  • Respirators

  • Protective gloves

  • Protective footwear

  • Eye Protection

When unsure on what PEE to get, ask the supplier, trade association or manufacturer to make sure if its suitable for the conditions of the job, offer the correct amount of protection, maintenance needed and when it needs replacing. Employees need training on how to use PPE so it gives the correct protection. It must fit correctly and also fit comfortably as well as not causing any other health risk such as overheating or entanglement with equipment. The items of PPE need to be compatible and not interfere with the job that needs to be done.
