Task 3 - P3/P4/M1/M2/D1/D2 - Produce and Edit Materials to be used for a Print Based Media Product

I created the base design of the castle and the title for my poster by drawing it myself. I wanted to create my own font for the poster in the style of pointy scales or teeth of a dragon and implement the sharp style into the title.

First Concept

To create my drawing, I used a base picture to trace the outline of the castle and then I added in the detail and shade afterwards by myself to make it my own. I kept the detail to a minimum because I knew that the image will be edited over.

Second Concept

This is the edit screen of the third poster I've made, being similar to the first but instead I created a boarder on the top and bottom with a cream colour because it matches the colour palette of the painting.

I've also added a white background and added a filter with splashes of paint and dirt.

This first poster is created based on the original sketch of Dragonstone, but I decided to paint the castle myself in the style of block base colours with no shade or detail. The final image is after I added splats which are meant to add a worn out vintage style. The title is a font that I thought matched the fantasy, medieval setting.

I also added a grainy filter to the painting and it adds a stressed look to the image as if its been a poster hanging for some time.

I used the marquee tool again to create the cream boarder on the top and bottom of the poster.

My first concept worked really well as it was based on a few vintage colour styles where there are very few base colours used with no details implemented into the design. You can make out the different parts of the castle by what colours are used depending on the darkness or lightness of the castle.

The dragons really bring the image together because they are a big focus in the story of the series and the fact the castle is named Dragonstone.

To go over the shapes of the castles to colour them, I used the lasso tools to create the shapes and then use the paintbrush tool to colour them.

My background that I used was created by first adding a photo of a scrunched piece of paper into photoshop to give the poster a more realistic  looking style. I then added the cream boarder and splashes of colour  in photoshop to add a rustic, old look. I added the boarder by using the marquee tool to create the shape and then colour it.

The first poster that I designed has base colours determined on the aesthetic, atmosphere and style of Game Of Thrones. The second poster on the right was an idea based on more of an abstract art style where we use unique, bright colours based on fire. I also added the same poster without the fire to add a wider range of potential ideas. the fire was added to show how dragonstone relates to the creature.

Final Concept

These two posters would be apart of a simple collection of posters that is a collective of all the kingdoms in Westeros.

For this design, I've removed the paper background, the boarder and the title at the top and instead added a simple title at the bottom of the poster with a small 'Westeros' title underneath. Also, I added a grey background instead of the paper because it wouldn't have suited this style.
